Why do I love design?
Since I got my first pc, digital design intrigued me. I would see cool things online or on the streets, and wonder how can I create that. This curiousity still fuels me today. Design is a tool for me to actualize my imagination. It allows me to create anything I can think of. I'm constantly driven to new practices, methods and software, because I want to add as much as possible to my toolkit. Working with design is never boring or hard for me, beacuse I'm constantly learning new things, trying new methods…
So far in my designer journey I have extensivly explored UI Design, Print Design, UX Design, Animation, Video Editing and 3D Visualization and Animation.
What is my mission?
My mission is to understand and master multiple aspects of digital design. Including UX and UI design, animation and 3D software. With this knowledge, I want to create designs for people with the focus on outcome and social impact. I work by diving deep into a topic, researching and understanding the user, a product or a brand in order to create professional, expert designs. I aspire to become someone who can take on and create the whole digital footprint of a company. Mastering all aspects, consequently allows me to work in teams and understand the whole design process.
Another important goal for me is to improve my ability to realte to the users, thus aquiring the ability to make user centered decisions instinctivly.
What are my hobbies?
Other than working on personal design projects I often like to do sports in my freetime. In the summer I really enjoy cycling, specifically with a roadbike. I enjoy going on long trips along the coast of The Netherlands.
Recently more and more I enjoy bouldering. Going to a climbing gym, it is just such a nice experience trying to do harder and harder routes every time. Currently I'm at about 6A-6B level.
I also like physical drawing, usually with basic graphite. When I was younger I used to go to a afternoon drawing school for 2 years.
I think since I was 14 I was always a gamer. Video games was how we made friends in high-school. Unfortunatly, since living in The Netherlands I don't have much time to game.
My opinion on AI
Many designers are scared that AI is going to take their jobs. I'm not one of them.
I have extensively research the topic reading articles, and watching video essays about the topic. From this I have come to the conclusion that, AI is a great new tool to speed up many different workflows. And it is going to get even better, but not quite as much as people like to think. Even current latest AI models, cannot actually reason, or use logic. They are trained on billions of data points, and they work by predicting words after each other. Don't get me wrong, with this technique they have had incredible results. One important fact is, we have already run out of AI training data. Current models have been trained on literally The Entire Web. Companies are now often creating their own data, to train the AI's on. And this costs a lot of money.
We have reached the point where, the amount of data required to make the AI better is exponentially increasing, while the precision of the AI is only barely increasing.

What is my creative process like?
As a UX Designer, I believe user experience (UX) remains undervalued in many industries today. Research, testing, and prototyping are essential steps in any effective design process, yet they are often overlooked. While there are over 100 research and testing methods available, most companies fail to use even one.
In an ideal scenario, the perspectives of UX Designers should play a key role in decision-making. From my experience, UX Designers are uniquely positioned to advocate for user needs, ensuring that decisions align with real-world usability and satisfaction. Unfortunately, many companies prioritize input from finance or development teams for major decisions while neglecting the voice of the user. This lack of representation frequently leads to poor choices that could have been avoided with a more user-centered approach.
In my own practice I try to implement this mindset into my work. Going through the 5 stages of a design process. Empathize: research your users' needs. Define: state your users' needs and problems. Ideate: challenge assumptions and create ideas. Prototype: start to create solutions. Test: try your solutions out.
